WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.), a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, introduced Purdue University professor Steven H. Collicott during a Subcommittee on Science and Space hearing on May 16, 2013.

Collicott, a professor in Purdue’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, provided testimony during the hearing titled “Partnerships to Advance the Business of Space.” In his remarks, Coats praised Collicott and Purdue’s longstanding tradition in aeronautics and astronautics.

“As many of you may know, the ‘Aero-Astro’ program at Purdue is world renowned,” said Coats. “Twenty-two Purdue graduates have flown in the space program, including such legendary figures as Gus Grissom and Neil Armstrong. Aero-Astro graduates have made many contributions, large and small, to aviation and space. Dr. Collicott recently led a team of students from Purdue and from North Carolina A&T in a project to design and build an experiment to be operated on the International Space Station. He has a number of other distinguished accomplishments.”
