Amanda Haapala wins Outstanding Service Award

Congratulations to Amanda Haapala who has been selected to receive an Outstanding Service Award in recognition of her contributions to the school, college, and university.
Amanda received her B.S. in Physics from Towson University in 2008. She began graduate studies at Purdue University in the fall of 2008 and completed her M.S. in 2010. She is currently Ph.D. student and her advisor is Prof. Kathleen Howell. Her research focus is on the application of Poincaré maps in multi-body regimes to facilitate spacecraft trajectory design.
Amanda's contributions to Purdue and to the Greater Lafayette community include:
- Aero Assist Mentorship Program graduate mentor - Fall 2012
- Volunteered as a Journal of Purdue Undergraduate Research (JPUR) Student Editorial Board member - Fall 2011 and Spring 2012
- Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) group leader, 2010, 2012, and 2013
- Purdue Space Day Group Leader , 2009, 2010, and 2011
- Volunteer 2-3 hours a week at the Almost Home Humane Society
Amanda is a asset to both Purdue University and the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and we congratulate her on this recognition.
