Sigma Gamma Tau, the National Aerospace Engineering Honor Society,recognizes AAE Undergraduate Secretary Lisa Crain as the November 2012 recipient of the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Award

Sigma Gamma Tau, the National Aerospace Engineering Honor Society, recognizes AAE Undergraduate Secretary Lisa Crain as the November 2012 recipient of the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Award.

Within the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Lisa is responsible for a variety of roles, including Undergraduate Secretary, Co-op Assistant, AAE Photographer, Undergraduate Events Coordinator, and AAE Prospective Student Tours. In 2012, she has been a recipient of the Mortar Board Rose Award, an award given to “to clerical and service staff workers nominated by faculty, staff, or students who know the work habits of the nominee.” Lisa was selected from a nomination pool of over 70.

Lisa was nominated for this award by three separate individuals. One individual commented that “Lisa goes out of her way to help students on a daily basis and always seems to know the correct answer.” Another observed that “she does a lot for the department, and is always helpful and cheerful.”

Faculty and Staff Appreciation Awards are given to individuals within the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics for going out of their way to help undergraduate and graduate students. Nominations can be made by any current AAE student on the Sigma Gamma Tau website, https://engineering.purdue.edu/SGT/recognition.html.

Nominations are viewed by the chairperson of the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Awards committee and awarded on a monthly basis. Recipients of the awards are publically recognized in the Sigma Gamma Tau bulletin board and receive a card signed by AAE students.

Sigma Gamma Tau was founded on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, on February 28, 1953, “to offer appropriate recognition to persons of superior scholarship, outstanding character, and professional achievement in the field of Aeronautical Engineering.” Sigma Gamma Tau’s collegiate chapters elect annually to membership those students, alumni, and professionals who by conscientious attention to their studies or professional duties uphold this high standard for the betterment of their profession.
