Event Date: July 2, 2012
The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics welcomes two new faculty members, Drs. Michael Grant and Haifeng Wang.

The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics welcomes two new faculty members, Drs. Michael Grant and Haifeng Wang. Both are joining us as Assistant Professors.

Dr. Grant obtained his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in 2012. His expertise is in entry, descent, and landing for a variety of missions, including Mars exploration, human lunar return, and conventional prompt global strike. Dr. Grant also has expertise in hypersonic aerodynamics, trajectory optimization, systems engineering, multidisciplinary design optimization, and conceptual design of blunt and slender entry vehicles. Dr. Grant obtained a B.S. degree from Purdue's AAE in 2005. Thus, we are delighted to have him back.

Dr. Haifeng Wang obtained his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 2010 and was a post doctoral research associate at Cornell from 2010-12. Dr. Wang's expertise is in large-eddy simulations that uses probability density functions (PDF) to study turbulent chemically-reacting flows. Dr. Wang has developed and verified a new generation high-performance Monte Carlo particle PDF code for turbulent combustion. Dr. Wang also has expertise in RANS/PDF methods for reacting flows.

Both Dr. Grant and Dr. Wang were selected after a national search, and we are delighted to have recruited them. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Grant and Dr. Wang to Purdue.
