Congratulations to Tim Duquette, named 2008-2009 Outstanding Senior Student

Tim Duquette is an AAE senior graduating in December of 2009. He is focusing in astronautics and specializing in propulsion and design.

Tim Duquette is an AAE senior graduating in December of 2009. He is focusing in astronautics and specializing in propulsion and design. He is a co-op student with NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. There he worked on the Ares I Upper Stage and the Space Shuttle Main Engine.

Tim was co-director of Purdue Space Day 2008 where the guest astronaut was Commander Mark L. Polansky and he is co-director of the Purdue Chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) Spring Space Forum 2009. He is supporting the AAE Head Search Committee and the AAE Senior Difference campagin.

Tim was named an Astronaut Scholar for the 2009-2009 year by the prestigious Astronaut Scholarship Foundation which supports only 19 students annually across the country. Founded by the six surviving astronauts of the Mercury 7 program, the scholarship is a way to promote continued science and technology research in the U.S.

During the summer of 2009 he aims to finish private pilot training while at Marshall doing a work session in advanced propulsion concepts.

When he is not studying, he is usually active in one of several intramural sports. He is also a member of Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity. Tim's hometown is Chicago suburb Western Springs. He hopes to pursue a master's degree in engineering after first working in industry.
