Safety
The Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering is committed to the safety of its staff, students, and researchers. This portion of our website contains information about our Safety Committee, the training all researchers and staff members must complete, and provides links to several Purdue University sites dealing with safety, emergency preparedness, and workplace injury.
The LORRE Safety Committee
Training
All LORRE researchers receive safety training immediately upon beginning employment at LORRE. There is also an annual retraining that all researchers are required to attend. The first and second links below outline the areas that are covered in the basic LORRE training, and the third link provides information on training provided by Purdue's Radiological & Environmental Management Office (REM).
Recertification
It is the policy of Purdue University to integrate environmental health and safety into all operations. To achieve this end, Purdue has developed an Integrated Safety Plan (ISP). Certification of the safety program is subject to annual review and recertification. LORRE has received the re-certification every year since 2004 (the first year required).
