Congratulations to Satya Parida on his successful PhD defense!

Congratulations to Satya Parida on his successful PhD defense!

Author: A. Sivaprakasam
Event Date: November 16, 2020
Satya defended his work on noise-induced hearing loss in the chinchilla model.

Satya joined the lab in 2015, and has since contributed significantly to the auditory neuroscience community at Purdue and beyond. In his defense, Neural Representations of Natural Speech in a Chinchilla Model of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss, he demonstrated the application of a unifying quantitiative framework for studying auditory nerve responses. Using this framework, he was able to make conclusions related to pitch, voiced/unvoiced speech, and how auditory nerve responses to these stimuli are affected in noise-induced hearing loss.

Satya will remain with us in the Spring, but is looking for academic postdoctoral positions. We wish Satya all the best on his future endeavors!
