Congratulations to Annika Schenkel and Isabella Huddleston on a Successful Ringel Symposium!

Congratulations to Annika Schenkel and Isabella Huddleston on a Successful Ringel Symposium!

Heinz Lab members Annika Schenkel and Isabella “Bella” Huddleston, both third-year AuD students, presented their capstone projects at the Purdue SLHS Ringel Symposium on December 17, 2025. This annual event provides a platform for second-year SLP students and third-year AuD students to showcase their research.

Annika’s project“Clinical Audible Contrast Threshold Test (ACT) Efficacy in Measuring SNR Loss,” explored the clinical application of a spectrotemporal modulation task and its relationship to standard speech-in-noise testing.

Bella’s project, “The Effects of an Acute Noise Exposure Sporting Event on Audiometric Measures,” investigated changes in objective and behavioral auditory testing immediately after participants attended a Purdue Men’s Basketball game at Mackey Arenaone of the loudest collegiate venues.

We are proud of Annika and Bella for demonstrating their expertise and engaging in meaningful discussions about their work. Their presentations provided valuable insights and garnered feedback that will help refine their research as they prepare for the American Auditory Society Conference this February.
