"College" series toolkit
The Office of Undergraduate Education in the College of Engineering is launching a new mockumentary video series called "College." The series will follow Nina Overton through four (simulated) years in Purdue Engineering with takeaways in each episode. The first episode will center around meeting friends in the first day of class; the second features preparing for a career fair and attending one; the third dives into an office hours session with a TA; and the finale has Nina reflecting on her four years and preparing for graduation.
The target audience is prospective students, which is why we tried the mockumentary style, going for an authentic vibe and leaning into less-polished content than is typically produced by our units. The four episodes were written by Nina and filmed and edited by non-videographers (which is apparent).
The "actors" in the series are all engineering students. We're using only first names in the series, though next semester, we'll have a "Where are they now?" catch-up series with them in which their full names will be shared.
Here's who you'll see (with current status in parentheses): Nina (ChE, alumna); Clifford (ABE, alum); David (MSE, grad student at Northwestern); Logan (IE, senior); Anika (ME, senior); Amareah (CE, grad student at Purdue); Abby (AAE, grad student at Purdue); Ethan (MDE, senior graduating in December); and Anagha (ABE, current PhD student at Northwestern).
We'll be consistently adding to this page but also try to shoot email reminders to ECOM when the next episode's assets are ready to go.
