A description of the Baxter Young Invesigator Award from the Baxter website is as follows:

"Baxter International Inc. is a global diversified healthcare company that couples its dedication to excellence and its passion for innovation with its unique combination of expertise in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology to advance patient care worldwide.

To celebrate and promote innovative research, Baxter sponsors an annual award program open to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Baxter's Young Investigator Awards seek to stimulate and reward research applicable to the development of therapies and medical products that save and sustain patients' lives. Baxter invites current graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in North America to submit descriptions of ongoing research. The Baxter Young Investigator Awards program consists of two tiers; first tier awards include a $2,000 cash prize and an onsite visit to present the award-winning research. Second tier awards will receive a $500 cash prize."
