Join Professor Michael Titus in Madrid for this introductory materials Science and engineering course that is required for MSE and ME students. The course explores the relationship between the structure of materials and the resulting mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical properties. Addtionally, concepts of atomic structure, bonding, atomic arrangement; crystal structure, crystal symmetry, defects, and the use of X-ray diffraction will be introduced. Brief examples of applications to design will be provided. Madrid's strong aerospace industry makes Madrid and excellent location for this topic.

 

Credit: Earn 3 credits for MSE 23000. This is the same course taught on the Purdue campus.

Eligibility: Open to students in MSE, ME, and related majors. If you are unsure if you qualify, contact the instructor. All students must check with their academic advisor to see how this course can work in their plan of study.

Estimated cost: $5,800-$6,100 which includes: Housing, (3) academic credits, transportation pass for Madrid, all class and cultural activities on the itinerary, Welcome and Farewell Meals, and international health insurance. Addtional costs: Airfare, meals, travel documents, and personal activities

 

Housing: Students will stay in shared apartments in Madrid (Purdue students only) with fully equipped kitchens.
