Dear Colleagues and Students
As you may notice, we have been organizing a series of Distinguished ICON Seminars monthly. Speakers are mainly NAE or NAS members. Next Thursday afternoon (Feb. 18) at 3:00pm, we will have Prof. Brian D. O. Anderson to talk about his recent research on complex social networks. Please refer to the flyer below and the following website for more information:
FYI: Brian is a research pioneer in many engineering fields including adaptive systems, sensor networks, and optimal control. His research has been recognized by many prestigious awards including IEEE Control Systems Award, IEEE Bode Prize, IFAC Quazza Medal, IEEE Guillemin-Cauer Award, and so on. Brian has also served as leading roles in universities, academic societies and organizations, including Department Head at U of New Castle (at the age of 26), Director of Engineering School at ANU, President of IFAC, President of the Australian Academy of Science, and so on. He has also served in the Prime Minister's Science and Engineering Council. Brian has recently been recognized in Queen's Birthday Honour List and also a Brian Anderson Building at ANU campus. Brian is an IEEE fellow, IFAC fellow, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering in the U.S.
Brian is also a great mentor. I have benefited a lot from the collaboration with him since 2008. We will arrange a 45-min meeting for Brian to meet ICON faculty and students. We are also collecting questions for Brian to answer and share his research experience. Please let Shreyas and I know.
Best!
