United States Navy Air Combat Analyst

Position 
 Air Combat Analyst (Civilian) 
 
Work 
. Assess the performance of existing and conceptual missiles, aircraft, and sensor suites 
. Analyze the overall combat capabilities of sub-systems (e.g. radar, RWR) and systems-of-systems (e.g. many aircraft employing coordinated tactics) in achieving military objectives 
. Maintain air-to-air combat expertise via interaction with fleet and fleet exercises 
. Interact with fighter pilots to determine current and future needs 
. Model missiles, aircraft, radars, IRSTs, seekers, and aircrew in air combat scenarios 
. Research methods and technologies to improve the effectiveness of naval aviation and analysis 
 
We are looking for U.S. citizens who: 
. Possess a genuine desire to understand complex multi-disciplinary problems and relationships 
o We build and modify the tools needs to solve a problem, rather than repeatedly applying the same tools to varying problems 
. Have a strong interest in aerospace and fighter aircraft 
. Are engineers/scientists/mathematicians with interest in some of the following areas: 
o Radars 
. Modeling and simulation, design, signal processing 
o RF Engineering 
. Sensor design, signal processing, circuit design 
o IR Engineering 
. Mid-wave/long-wave signature and detection 
o Aerospace Engineering 
. Aircraft performance, dynamics 
o Software Development 
. Harnessing big data: machine learning; database management; data visualization 
. Languages of Interest: Python and Fortran 
o Statistics and Design of Experiments 
. Analyzing stochastic data to determine trends 
. Designing experimental matrices and fitting meta-models
