ME 597: Design Sprints for Complex Engineering Problems and Sociotechnical Systems

Can drones deliver human organs?

Should A.I. be used in law enforcement?

Many complex social issues are actually engineering issues, and many engineering issues are actually social issues.  In this class, you’ll do a focused design sprint on these topics, using design process methods to bring clarity to systems that are complex.

Associate professor Tahira Reid Smith spent 2020 as a Visiting NASA Scholar, and she will bring the design processes and experiences used in NASA to the Purdue Engineering classroom.
