In this tutorial with esteemed collaborators, Stefan Scheel, Tilman Pfau and Robert Löw, we delve into the intricate details of photon-mediated interactions between atoms, placing a particular emphasis on the influence of geometry and the surrounding environment in manipulating these effects. Our focus centers on the contemporary achievement of sub-wavelength confinement across various platforms, including cold and thermal atoms, quantum dots, and color centers coupled to nanophotonic devices.
