Congratulations to Dr. Goergen for being awarded the prestigious BMES 2017 Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Award! The award was established in 2000 in honor of the former BMES executive director, highlighting originality and ingenuity in the research of investigators less than seven years removed from receiving their terminal degree. Dr. Goergen will present the Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Lecture at the BMES Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ on October 14, 2017.

CVIRL welcomes three new graduate students to our lab this year! Hannah Cebull joins us as a PhD student from The University of Akron; Hamna Qureshi joins us as a fifth year masters student from Purdue; and Joeseph Muskat joins us as a PhD student co-advised by Vitaly Rayz from Purdue as well. We're excited for them to be joining our lab!
Congratulations to Amelia Adelsperger for successfully defending her Master's Thesis, titled "Development and growth trends in angiotensin II-induced murine abdominal aortic aneurysms"!
