Lab and Facilities
Our laboratory has a FUJIFILM VisualSonics Vevo3100 high-resolution ultrasound system with 50, 40, and 21 MHz (center frequency) transducers and Nd:YAG laser pumped OPO for photacoustic imaging. This state-of-the-art in vivo imaging system is capable of anatomical, functional, and molecular imaging in mice, rats and other small animals. Physiological monitoring is integrated with the system to provide cardiac and respiration gating for 3D imaging. We also use a 2-channel tail cuff blood pressure measuring system from Kent Scientific capable of non-invasively collecting systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressures in mice and rats. Furthermore, we have a Kodak 4000 mm planar fluorescence system capable of collecting tomographic fluorescence images at near-infrared wavelengths in live animals or tissues. Finally, our laboratory is also a major user of the 7.0 Tesla Bruker Biospec magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system in the Bindley Biosciences Center within Discovery Park at Purdue University. This system is a 70/30 USR 305 mm bore horizontal axis, actively shielded superconducting magnet.
