Thomas Mann was awarded 1st place for the graduate poster competition (Structural Materials Division) at TMS 2020.

Our new 20:1 lever arm creep frame has arrived. It is equipped with a 1100 ºC-capable furnace and can run creep-rupture and stress-relaxation tests.

Located in the College of Engineering Laboratories at Kepner, the vacuum furnace is capable of operating at 1650 ºC in inert atmospheres and under high vacuum.

This prestigious award supports early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education. This award will fund superalloy research to uncover the fundamental, atomistic-level processes governing high temperature strength in model metallic materials.
