Yuehwern Yih receives named professorship

Yuehwern Yih receives named professorship

Yuehwern Yih, professor of industrial engineering, has been named the Tompkins Professor of Industrial Engineering.

 

Yih is the Director of LASER PULSE (Long-term Assistance and Services for Research, Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine)and developed the E+TRA system (Electronic TRAnsparent TRAcking system) which is a supply chain management system that has helped deliver vital humanitarian aid to thousands of families in both South Sudan and Ukraine.

In addition to this honor, Yih was recently awarded the Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Award for her work that provides humanitarian relief due to events such as natural disasters or conflicts. 

Jim Tompkins is a Purdue Industrial Engineering alumnus (BSIE ‘69, MSIE ‘70, PhD ’72) and was named Outstanding Industrial Engineer (’97) and was awarded as a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus (’99).  Tompkins, the CEO of Tompkins International, is a thought leader in supply chain and an entrepreneur who has started 15 businesses that have earned over $2 billion in revenue during his career.   

Tompkins generous support of the School of Industrial Engineering is greatly appreciated and is incredibly valuable to the school as it moves forward.
