IE PhD student Rhoann Kerh won the Global Good by Intellectual Ventures award at the fourth annual Purdue Engineering I2D Exposition for Global Programs and Partnerships in Engineering.

Kerh (Yih lab) presented a poster for her project titled "Demand Sensing and Digital Tracking for Maternal and Child Health (MCH) in Uganda". Global Good is an R&D arm for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

"We are trying to improve maternal and child health (MCH) care in Uganda by matching the commodities demand with supply through applying system engineering principles and cloud-based smart sync IT solutions. Three key data sets including antenatal patient register, MCH commodities data and lab based diagnosed data will be triangulated to build the demand forecast predictive model, and  IT solutions will be utilized to digitalize critical aspects of primary data for better data management," explains Kerh.

The March 29 & 30 exposition included invited speakers from USAID, Catholic Relief Services, and Global Good; global development research and student projects on display; and an announcement of seed grant winners. It focused on how engineers and engineering can support achievement of the United Nation's Sustainable Development goals, and took place in the Armstrong Atrium.
