🚀 Thrilled to share my recent experience at HI-SEAS (Hawaii Space Exploration Analog & Simulation), where I served as the Space Engineer during the 2-week Analog Astronaut Mission. Located 8,200 feet above sea level on the Mauna Loa Volcano, HI-SEAS is a Mars and Moon exploration analog space research station operated by the International MoonBase Alliance. Meet the astronaut mission crew, HANAIA I KE AHI (FORGED IN FIRE): Mason, Allaire, Jehan, Jamar, Elizabeth, & Joshita. Together, we formed a close-knit space family. Reflecting on our mission, I envision a future scenario: Amidst the vastness of space, a voice crackles over the comms, "Houston, we have a problem." Adrenaline fuels our determination as we swiftly navigate challenges, triumphing over adversity. Touching down on the lunar surface, surrounded by the awe-inspiring cosmos, I'm clad in my spacesuit adorned with symbols close to my heart — the Palestinian flag alongside motifs of traditional tatreez embroidery. At that moment, I feel a surge of emotion. It's not just me standing here; it's a testament to generations of dreams, a symbol of hope and resilience. Planting the Palestinian flag, I declare, 'A small step for a Palestinian, a giant leap for humanity.' This instant, captured for eternity, reminds me of the power of dreams and the strength that lies in unity. As I smile for the camera, my heart swells with pride. Every step, every heartbeat echoes with the stories of those who came before me, and the promise of those yet to come. This journey isn't just about exploration; it's about breaking barriers, forging connections, and embracing the endless possibilities that lie beyond.
