Fluid mechanics to help model the brain fluids of astronauts

Astronauts go through many biological changes in zero-gravity — some visibly apparent, and some less so. One specific effect involves reduced cycling of cerebrospinal fluid from the brain, which could lead to long-term neurological issues. Purdue University researchers are now building fluid dynamics models for NASA to gauge the threat of these altered flows for future astronauts on long-duration space missions.

Thirteen Purdue students have been offered Fulbright grants to pursue scholarly work across 12 countries for 2024-25. The prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program supports cultural exchange and mutual understanding by sponsoring 8-12 months of research, study, or teaching abroad. Over 160 countries participate in this bilateral exchange program.

Purdue Engineering Engages with University Partners Throughout Colombia in Spring 2024

More international students come to Purdue University from Colombia than any other Latin American country. Colombia continues to be a valuable incubator of talent for Purdue’s College of Engineering, as there are 70 Colombian alumni from Purdue Engineering Graduate Programs in the last five years and over 40 graduate students currently enrolled.
