Purdue Sloan Center Drives Systemic Change and Faculty Career Preparation
At the 2024 SREB Institute on Teaching and Mentoring and the Sloan Grantee Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Purdue University’s Sloan Center for Systemic Change (SCSC) demonstrated its commitment to transforming graduate education. Veal earns Flying Tigers scholarship for aviation history essay
Purdue AAE student Don-Terry Veal, Jr. has received the American Volunteer Group Flying Tigers Association Scholarship for the 2024 academic year. The AVGFTA awards monetary scholarships to students who develop well-researched essays that describe a facet of the missions employed by the original Flying Tigers who served during the early days of WWII.

New South Campus Parking Shuttle now available
Earlier this week, a new shuttle service provided by Royal Excursion began running to enhance and expedite access to the West Lafayette main academic campus for permit holders who park in select locations on the south side of campus.

Fluid mechanics to help model the brain fluids of astronauts
Astronauts go through many biological changes in zero-gravity — some visibly apparent, and some less so. One specific effect involves reduced cycling of cerebrospinal fluid from the brain, which could lead to long-term neurological issues. Purdue University researchers are now building fluid dynamics models for NASA to gauge the threat of these altered flows for future astronauts on long-duration space missions.
