Purdue Engineering Celebrates Graduate Student Appreciation Week 2026: Advancing Excellence, Innovation, and Global Impact

Purdue University College of Engineering proudly recognizes Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GSAW) April 6-10, 2026, as an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of our graduate student community. This annual observance highlights the essential role graduate students play in advancing research, education, and innovation across the college and beyond.

Graduate students at Purdue Engineering, including professional master’s, research-focused thesis master’s, and PhD researchers, contribute directly to technological advancement, workforce development, and the global reputation of Purdue as a leader in engineering education.

Driving Excellence Across Research, Practice, Teaching, and Mentorship

Research-focused master’s and PhD students lead pioneering investigations that expand fundamental knowledge and translate into real-world applications. At the same time, professional master’s students bring advanced technical expertise into industry settings, accelerating innovation and strengthening the engineering workforce.

Graduate students also play a vital role in the educational mission of Purdue Engineering. Through teaching assistantships, mentoring, and instructional support, they directly enhance the learning experience of more than 13,500 engineering undergraduate students. They also serve as leaders within academic units, student organizations, and professional societies. Their contributions extend across Purdue’s West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations and beyond, fostering collaborative and high-impact outcomes.
