Purdue PhD Alumni Begin Tenure-Track Appointments at UPRM

Two alumni from Purdue University’s School of Mechanical Engineering have begun tenure-track appointments at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM), advancing Purdue Engineering’s global footprint in research and education.

Dr. Andrea Lorena Felicelli and Dr. Orlando G. Rivera González both earned their doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from Purdue University before joining the Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering - UPRM as tenure-track faculty.

Dr. Orlando G. Rivera González also completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM) before coming to Purdue for his graduate studies. His experiences go full circle starting his education at UPRM and then returning as a faculty member to UPRM.

As Purdue-trained engineers, Felicelli and Rivera González exemplify the university’s mission of developing leaders who move the world forward. Their appointments underscore the strength of Purdue Mechanical Engineering’s graduate programs in preparing scholars to drive discovery, mentor the next generation of engineers and contribute to the advancement of their academic and research communities worldwide.
