Undergraduate CONNplexity Lab member Michael Wang will intern at NASA, then pursue graduate studies in industrial engineering at Purdue.

Wang worked in the CONNplexity lab as an undergraduate researcher and completed his BSIE in December 2018. He will start an internship at NASA's Language Research Center during the Spring 2019 semester, then plans to begin his MSIE in Operations Research starting in May 2019.

"I will be improving the execution time and efficiency of NASA-developed machine learning and uncertainty quantification software," said Wang. "The work will involve refactoring existing Python code to leverage high-performance computing (HPC) resources and to optimize code for more efficient use of those resources. The software developed during this project will be used to support research under the High-Performance Computing Incubator (HPCI) in a range of topics including computational fluid dynamics, entry, descent and landing (EDL), non-destructive evaluation, and computational materials science."
