Neal Fearnot, PhD, Vice President, Cook Group Incorporated will share his "best advice for graduate students" at the inaugural seminar of the BME Summer Seminar Series on Wednesday, May 18, at 12:30 p.m. in MJIS 2001.

Neal E. Fearnot, PhD is currently Vice President of Cook Group Incorporated, focusing on the scientific and business potential of new medical technology and regulatory affairs policy worldwide. Dr. Fearnot has served as founding President of three companies: MED Institute, a full service medical device development company (1983), Cook Biotech, a tissue-engineered product manufacturer (1995), and Cook Advanced Technologies, a cutting-edge technology development company (2009) which he currently leads.

Active in several initiatives to promote global harmonization of medical device approval regulations, Dr. Fearnot has addressed topics such as GCP harmonization, regulatory submission content and format harmonization, and international clinical trial infrastructure. He has filed numerous US regulatory submissions as well as foreign submissions and has provided input into development of legislation or regulations in several countries including US, Japan, India, Taiwan, EU, Panama, Bahamas, and Mexico.

Academically, Dr. Fearnot has authored over 150 scientific journal articles and abstracts, holds over 85 U.S. and foreign patents and has presented at numerous scientific meetings and conferences during the past 30 years.  Dr. Fearnot holds a PhD in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University, where he regularly lectures on regulatory science for biomedical engineers.
