The Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering places great emphasis on identifying students who excel in three key areas: academic merit, service to BME, and demonstration of strong personal and professional character. While each scholarship or award may have its specific eligibility criteria, these three dimensions serve as the guiding principles for the selection committee. Please refer to the individual requirements outlined below for our annual primary scholarships and awards.
How do I apply?
The scholarship application process is straightforward and consists of three steps.Step 1
Prepare
Update your resume, prepare a personal statement, and identify a faculty member/instructor to write a letter of recommendation for you. This is required. Faculty writing letters of recommendation must submit them through the Qualtrics Survey. Be clear with faculty that the recommendation letter may be used for several different scholarships or awards but will be based on the qualities of Scholarship/Research, Leadership, Service, and Character.
Step 2
Apply
Complete the Qualtrics survey for applicants. This will involve updating your resume, preparing a personal statement, and listing the name of the person writing your letter of recommendation.
Step 3
Letter of Support
Share the separate Qualtrics survey link for letters of recommendation with the faculty or staff members who have agreed to write them on your behalf.
Survey Links will be shared with students in the Weldon Weekly Newsletter. These steps need to be completed by Monday, September 7, 2026.
If you are chosen as a scholarship recipient, you will be expected to express your gratitude by composing a thoughtful thank-you letter to the generous donors who have contributed the funds you will be receiving. Instructions for writing the thank-you letter will be sent to you separately if you are selected.
