Shimadzu GC 2014 gas chromatograph, equipped with a thermal conductivity detector (TCD), flame ionization detector (FID), and two independent flow paths. The first flow path, equipped with HayeSep D and molecular sieve 5A packed columns, allows separation of permanent gases. The second flow path, equipped with HayeSep D packed columns, allows for analysis of larger hydrocarbon molecules.

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer

Agilent Cary 680 FTIR Spectrometer

The Agilent Cary 680 FTIR spectrometer is capable of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) of condensed and gas phase samples.

  • Spectral range from 9,000-350 cm-1
  • ~110 spectra/second at 16 cm-1 resolution for kinetics experiments
  • Ventilated enclosure allows experiments with toxic materials
  • The Pike GladiATR accessory uses a diamond crystal internal reflection element that enables study of corrosive condensed phase samples

Streak Camera / Spectrometer

ROSS 2000 Streak Camera

The ROSS 2000 streak camera is an ultrahigh-speed spectroscopic detector capable of:

  • Spectral imaging encompassing the UV and Visible ranges from 200-900 nm
  • Spectroscopic measurement at time scales applicable to hypergolic reactions
  • Sweeps over durations of 300 ns to 30 ms with a temporal resolution < 40 ps
  • Simultaneous measurements over a maximum of 180 nm wavelength range
