Each year, AAE students play a vital role in selecting the recipient of the W.A. Gustafson Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching—a prestigious honor that recognizes excellence in teaching within our department.
This award celebrates faculty members who demonstrate:

• Exceptional instructional effectiveness
• Innovation and improvement in course delivery
• Meaningful academic counseling, both formal and informal

Your votes also help shape AAE’s nomination for the university-wide Murphy Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching, making your input even more impactful.
How to vote: Simply select your first and second choices for Best Teacher using the drop-down menus on the following pages. If you can share specific examples or reasons that highlight their teaching strengths, it will greatly assist the selection committee.
Important notes:

• Only AAE faculty members are eligible for the Gustafson Award.
• Lecturers and teaching fellows will be considered for the AAE Outstanding Instructor Award, with voting for that taking place later this semester.
• Past Gustafson Award recipients are ineligible for two years following their win.

Deadline: Voting closes at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2025.
Bonus: Students who participate in voting will receive a free AAE T-shirt, while supplies last. Distribution will begin after voting concludes.
