My research is focused upon the development of foundational methods and tools for addressing problems characterized as system-of-systems. Pursuit of this focus includes establishment of an effective frame of reference, crafting of a common lexicon, and study of various modeling and simulation techniques, including probabilistic robust design (e.g., uncertainty modeling/management), agent-based modeling, network theory, object oriented simulations, and tools for capturing the interaction of requirements, concepts, and technologies. The present context for the research is the exploration of Next-generation Air Transportation systems, especially including the presence of revolutionary aerospace vehicles, new business models, and alternate policy constructs. Defense, healthcare, space, and other aviation-related applications are also under study.

I joined the Purdue community as an Assistant Professor in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering, in August of 2004. Specifically, I joined the university as a strategic faculty hire in Purdue's Signature Area for System-of-Systems (SoS) research. Prior to this appointment, I was a member of the Research Staff (1999 through mid-2003) in the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory and then Visiting Assistant Professor (2003) in the School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology.
