Mechanics of plant growth
Plant tissue growth and development are strongly associated with complex shape changes at cellular scale including rapid remodeling. Plant cell remodeling is a unique characteristic which requires fine coordination between cell wall mechanics and intracellular cytoskeleton dynamics. During anisotropic growth, the cell pattern is largely determined by the cell wall system as well as the integrated cytoskeleton beneath plasma membrane. We have developed a computational model to study mechanisms of anisotropic growth of plant cells.
