Higher order quadrature for device periodic directions

Objective:

  • Reduce the number of quadrature points at which to calculate (expensive) quantum density.

Approach:

  • Gaussian quadrature for wave vector grid in periodic directions.

Results:

  • Gaussian quadrature reduces number of points to 10-20, compared to 20-30 for simple rectangular.

Impact:

  • ~40% reduction of device simulation time.
