Space Flight Projects Laboratory PhD student Justin Mansell was awarded the John V. Breakwell travel award by the American Astronautical Society last week at the 29th Space Flight Mechanics Meeting in Ka'anapali, Hawaii.

The award provided $1000 in travel funding reimbursement to Justin to present his paper titled "Swarm Optimization of Lunar Transfers with Radiation Constraints" at the conference. The paper was written in collaboration with another SFPL student, Samantha Dickmann, who joined the lab last year as an undergraduate researcher. Justin was one of four students to be awarded the Breakwell award this year, which received a record number of applications.
