Welcome to the Project Website
Our main goal of this project is to develop a low-cost robotic water quality monitoring system for water and sediment monitoring and analysis of water bodies, as well as a smart water irrigation system for agriculture in Arequipa in Peru. The expected results from this project are: 1) Understanding of issues for the mine water system in Arequipa, 2) Evaluation of state-of-the-art robotic water sampling and monitoring systems for water and water distribution and spraying systems, 3) A prototype of Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) and Remotely Operated underwater Vehicle (ROV) platforms for water and sediment sampling and monitoring, and 4) A prototype of a smart water distribution system. The expected Impacts of this project on the Arequipa Region are: 1) A robotic water monitoring system will allow for autonomous water and sediment sampling and analysis in water systems around mines in the Arequipa region, and 2) A smart water irrigation system will enable water conservation and efficient distribution throughout this region.
