NHanCE members at 2024 HFES Conference

Five attendees were: Dr. Brandon Pitts (Lab Director, Associate Professor in IE), James Parkinson (Ph.D. Candidate), Ph.D. students: Jing Zang, Myeongkyu Lee, and Gen Li. Myeongkyu received best paper award from the STTG and K-HFES. Jing received HFES student member with honor.

During the week of September 9th, the 68th International Annual Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), ASPIRE, took place in Pheonix, AZ. 

Five NHanCE Lab members attended: Dr. Brandon Pitts (Lab Director, Associate Professor in IE), James Parkinson (Ph.D. Candidate), Gen Li (Ph.D. Student), Jing Zang (Ph.D. Student), and Myeongkyu Lee (Ph.D. Student). 

Dr. Brandon Pitts served as Program Chair of the Surface Transportation Technical Group (STTG)

Myeongkyu Lee received best student paper award from the STTG and K-HFES

Jing received HFES student member with honor, and her team won first place in the Usability Methods Planning Competition at the Student Career and Professional Day

 

During the conference, Jing, Myeongkyu, and Gen delivered oral presentations, while James presented a research poster. 

Oral presentations included:

  1. Jing Zang: “The Effect of Binaural Beats on Driver's Drowsiness”
  2. Myeongkyu Lee: “The Impact of System Confidence and Reliability on Drivers' Decision-Making in Conditionally AUtomated Vehicles”
  3. Gen Li: “Challenges Faced by Older Adults in Adopting Autonomous Vehicles: A Systematic Review”

The research poster presented was:

  1. James Parkinson: "Human Response Performance to Vibrotactile Alerts: A Scoping Review"

The HFES Purdue Chapter won the “2024 Outstanding Student Chapter Gold Award” for chapters that have made significant contributions to the discipline, HFES, their campus, and/or their community within a particular year.
