Re:       New Dual Level Course

The faculty of the Department of Engineering Education has approved the following new dual level ENE course.  This action is now submitted to the Engineering Faculty with a recommendation for approval.

ENE 590         Special Problems in Engineering Education.

Sem. 1 and 2. SS. Cr. 1-6. Admission by consent of instructor. (May be repeated for credit.)

Description:      Projects or special topics of contemporary importance or of special interest that are outside the scope of the standard graduate curriculum. Interested students should seek a faculty advisor by meeting with individual faculty members who work in their area of special interest and prepare a brief description of the work to be undertaken and expected outcomes and deliverables. An individual project must be approved by the faculty member supervising the project and the student’s advisor before registering for the course. An approved written report is required.

Reason:            The Department of Engineering Education (ENE) was recently formed, and is now authorized by Purdue University and the Indiana Commission of Higher Education, to coordinate the education of M.S. and Ph.D. level students in this field.  This addition is made to accommodate projects of interest to graduate students in the Department of Engineering Education and graduate students in other Departments, Schools, and Colleges with engineering education or related interests.
