New CourseEngineering Faculty Document No. 2-04 September 23, 2004 To: The Engineering Faculty From: The Department of Engineering Education Date: September 23, 2004 Subject: New Undergraduate Course The faculty of the Department of Engineering Education has approved the following new undergraduate IDE course. This action is now submitted to the Engineering Faculty with a recommendation for approval. IDE 495 – Special
Topics in Interdisciplinary Engineering Sem. 1 and 2. SS. Cr. 1-4. May be repeated for credit. Primarily designed for interdisciplinary engineering subject areas for which there is no specific course offered, but for which there is sufficient student interest to justify teaching a specialized course on a trial basis. May be repeated for credit as long as the topic being taught is not repeated. Reason: Since the Division of Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies and the Department of Freshman Engineering merged to form the Department of Engineering Education, the IDE program now has a faculty that, in conjunction with other faculty, might have a need to teach interdisciplinary engineering courses on a trial basis. IDE 495 will serve as the temporary number for these courses. Prerequisites, credit, and course outlines will vary depending on the material to be taught.
