Change in Graduation RequirementsEngineering Faculty Document 19-02 October 3, 2002 TO: The Engineering Faculty FROM: The Faculty of the School of Materials Engineering RE: Changes in Graduation Requirements for B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. The Faculty of the School of Materials Engineering has approved the following changes in the graduation requirements for the B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. These changes are now submitted to the Engineering Faculty with a recommendation for approval. I. New Requirement: Graduation with the B.S. MSE degree requires a graduation index (GPA) of at least 2.00 for all 200- and 300-level MSE core courses. Reason: The current graduation requirements include satisfaction of all curriculum requirements (with D or better grades) and an overall graduation GPA of 2.00 . The additional requirement is added to insure achievement of minimum program objectives. The 200- and 300-level MSE core courses are those specified in the required materials engineering core. II. Change in Wording for Pass/Not-Pass Option From: The pass/not-pass option may be applied only to general education courses. To: Of the courses used to satisfy the minimum graduation requirements, the pass/not-pass option may be applied only to general education courses. Reason: This clarifies present policy. Alexander H.
