The CLimate Equity, Adaptation, and Net Zero Nexus (CLEAN-ZEN) initiative has officially launched! Co-led by Profs. David Johnson, Sivaranjani (Siva) Seetharaman, and Andrew Liu, this initiative aims to leverage a systems approach to develop sustainable, cost-efficient, and equitable solutions for the net-zero transition and climate adaptation.

Our focus is on the Midwest region, which faces the dual challenges of numerous fossil fuel plant retirement and rapidly growing energy demand due to a manufacturing boom and planned data center investments. A successful energy transition in the Midwest will not only stabilize the region economically but also set a meaningful precedent for sustainable practices and environmental leadership.
