B-Xcellent Podcasting brings insight to young black professionals seeking academic success by discussing the journey of various black professionals. This podcast started in 2023 at Purdue University in the College of Engineering.
The goal of the Multicultural Engagement for Researchers & Grads in Engineering (MERGE) Lunches is to bring together engineering graduate students and postdocs who want to help create an inclusive space where people who identify as a minority in engineering can build community and excel. The College of Engineering partners with the College of Science and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for the Purdue Sloan Center for Systemic Change. Awarded in 2023, our goal is to coordinate efforts across our campus to promote access to STEM graduate education and success for all students. Check out our Graduate Student Ambassadors.
Located on the first floor of Neil Armstrong Hall, the Minority Engineering Program offers services and information to all students, especially those from historically under-represented groups, namely African American, Hispanic American, and Native American.
Greater Lafayette SWE Chapter
Make your mark. Be part of the nation’s first Women In Engineering! Purdue University’s Women in Engineering (WIE) helps women and girls discover their inner engineer. From mentoring to career development, WIE continually encourages current and future women engineering students by providing interesting and engaging programming relevant to their lives. WIE programs are a place to learn, discover, and explore aspects of engineering and connect with others who are also interested. The Graduate Women in Engineering Network (GWEN) also works with the WIE program. GWEN strives to empower and connect women engineering graduate students. The Native American Educational and Cultural Center, Latino Cultural Center, Black Cultural Center, and Asian American and Asian Resource and Cultural Center provide resources, events, and services to the entire community.
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Center provides programming that engages the entire Purdue campus and community on LGBTQ issues through events, lecture series, and support of a discrimination-free environment.

Purdue is proud to be a leading partner with the Sloan Foundation Indigenous Graduate Partnership, one of only 10 universities across the United States. A consortium of higher education institutions aiming to transform graduate STEM education by incorporating Indigenous perspectives, addressing issues relevant to Indigenous communities, improving student outcomes, fostering belonging, and preparing students for STEM careers both within and beyond academia. Student’ are pursuing research-based masters and PhD degrees.

The current focus is on supporting graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to return to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
