"I am from Grafton, MA and I applied to Kiewit Scholars because I have interned with Kiewit several times and really wanted to expand my skills as I work for them more in the future. I have already made many connections and I look forward to all the people I will meet with as this program goes on! I have been fortunate to work on several interesting projects such as Central 70 in Denver, CO and P-381 in Portsmouth, NH. I am very excited to see what more I will learn from the Kiewit Scholars Program, including how to become a better leader in the Construction Industry, learning more about Kiewit, and everything else that is in store!"

"I am from Pittsboro, Indiana, and I had the opportunity to intern for Kiewit last summer in Kansas City. I learned a lot about the company and decided to apply to Kiewit Scholars to learn more about the construction industry past my Electrical Engineering focus. I plan to eventually complement my design work by going out into the field as a field engineer, and this program will prepare me by introducing me to experienced field workers and construction students."

"I am from Alexandria, Indiana - a small, rural town about an hour northeast of Indianapolis. I applied to Kiewit Scholars because not only is it a generous scholarship, but also because of the professional development that is incorporated into the program. Once I graduate, I hope to work on either mixed-use commercial buildings or mass transportation, perhaps high-speed rail."

"I'm from Overland Park, Kansas and am majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a certificate in collaborative leadership. I've always been amazed at Kiewit's investment into developing their people. As a direct reflection of that, the Kiewit Scholars program has provided several high-quality resources for me hone my professional skills, develop meaningful relationships, and expand my horizons. I'm looking forward to continuing to learn from peers in industry and gain exposure into what world of engineering has to offer."

"I am originally from Seattle, Washington. This past summer I had the opportunity to work on the light rail expansion in Seattle with Mass Electric Transportation, a subsidiary of Kiewit. This allowed me to see the direct impact that this system has on and around the city. Currently, I am doing research at Purdue on the utilization of digital twins in facility management and building operations/maintenance. The Kiewit Scholars program has given me the confidence to pursue my interests in technological advancements within the industry. I am excited to continue to learn more about Kiewit and grow relationships within the company and industry as a whole."

"I am from Austin, TX and I applied to the Kiewit Scholars Program because of the opportunities to learn from industry professionals about the ever-growing construction industry. I am specifically interested in sustainability and green building within the construction world. Last summer I had the opportunity to intern with Kiewit in Denver in environmental engineering, seeing the real-world application of environmental mitigation and regulation. It was an amazing opportunity to apply what I am learning in the classroom to real-world projects. I am excited to learn more from my peers and industry professionals this year as part of the program!"

"I am from a small town in Southern Indiana called Corydon which is right above Louisville, Kentucky. Being a part of the Kiewit Scholars has been an amazing experience so far. It has been great to meet so many industry professionals who have so much experience and knowledge, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds. Outside of the program, I am President of Beta Tau, Construction Engineering and Management's Honor Fraternity, and I am on a Grand Prix Team here at Purdue that my friends and I started!"

"I am from Crown Point, Indiana. My favorite part about being involved in Kiewit Scholars thus far is all of the amazing people I've gotten to meet, from professionals within Kiewit to other students in the program. Outside of Kiewit Scholars, I work for the Women in Engineering Department as a member of the WE Link Leadership team, where I'm the co-chair of the recruitment project committee. I'm also an ambassador for the Lyles School of Civil Engineering and am involved with Boiler Gold Rush, the university's freshmen orientation program. I'm also involved with Purdue University Dance Marathon as a member of the Morale committee and a member of Purdue Gymnastics Club."

"I grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts, a small suburb just north of Boston. I am currently a teaching assistant for Purdue's Women in Engineering Seminar (ENGR 19400) and outside of academics I enjoy competing in cross country/track meets with the Purdue Running Club. I am excited to be a part of the Kiewit Scholars Program because it will provide me the opportunity to continue to develop the professional, interpersonal and leadership skills that are vital to entering the construction industry. Additionally, I hope to gain more hands-on experience as an engineer through this program."

"I grew up outside Annapolis, Maryland, and was drawn to Purdue because of the strong civil engineering program and the seemingly endless opportunities available to students. Being a Kiewit Scholar has enhanced my college experience in so many ways. I have appreciated the industry connections and exposure to the diverse career paths within the construction world. Outside of Kiewit Scholars, I serve as the Programs Chair for the Purdue Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers. I am also a Purdue Student Engineering Foundation member and a Civil Engineering Ambassador."

"I'm from Valparaiso, Indiana, and I'm studying civil engineering with a concentration in structural. I applied to the Kiewit Scholars to meet like-minded individuals who share similar goals and passions. Outside of the program, I'm also involved with Engineers Without Borders and Scope Consulting. Through the Kiewit Scholars program, I hope to continue developing my leadership skills and apply the skills I learn in the classroom in a real-world setting. I also look forward to expanding my understanding of the engineering and construction world and learning from professionals in the industry."

Louis Mariacher

"I am a sophomore in construction management technology, and from Zionsville, Indiana. I applied to the Kiewit scholars' program because of all the opportunities to grow my professional skills and learn from some of the best men and women in the construction industry. Being the only one in my family working in construction, I'm excited to be involved with the mentorship part of the scholarship. To have wisdom and guidance from an industry professional is an aspect that I am extremely grateful for. I have a background in welding and steel work, so the heavy industrial side of construction has been a strong interest of mine, one that I wish to pursue throughout and after college. I am so happy to be connected with a group of hardworking and ambitious students, and I can't wait to see what else this program brings!"

Ally Sitzman

"I am a current sophomore from Indianapolis, Indiana, studying Construction Management Technology with a minor in Spanish. When I first heard about the Kiewit Scholars Program, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. As a freshman decently new to the construction industry and Purdue as a whole, I was looking to find a group of people who shared the same interests and goals as me. The program brings students of various construction-related and engineering majors together to learn new skills and grow professionally as people and leaders. I look forward to seeing what more I can learn and the opportunity that will come from the Kiewit Scholars Program!"
