High Power Microwave Plasma Torch Experiment


We are developing a high power microwave plasma torch (4 kW, 6 GHz) to be applied for material testing at conditions mimicking hypersonic flight and for localized heating of gas flow in supersonic nozzles. Microwave-based heating is beneficial for obtaining non-contaminated gas stream and higher efficiencies/temperatures over currently utilized arc heaters and inductively coupled plasma torches.
