Purdue BME student in Indianapolis receives ASBMR travel award
Olivia White, a Purdue biomedical engineering PhD student based in Indianapolis, received a Biomechanics and Mechanobiology Research Area Travel Award to attend the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Annual Meeting where she will present her research poster, "Characterizing the Skeletal Effects of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) in a Murine Model."
White's research examines how alcohol use disorder and type 2 diabetes affect bone health, both independently and in combination. Her work aims to address a significant gap in understanding how these commonly co-occurring diseases influence skeletal outcomes and fracture risk.
"I feel honored to have my travel sponsored by this award. It validates that the work I am doing matters and encourages me to strive for excellence in the research I am passionate about," White said.
At ASBMR, White is most looking forward to presenting her poster, connecting with fellow researchers and receiving feedback that can help advance her work.
