Graduate Research Symposium

The GSO Graduate Research Symposium is an annual event that facilitates interaction of graduate students with faculty and industrial representatives through research talks, poster presentations and networking events. The symposium also serves as an introduction to the department's research portfolio for incoming first year graduate students. Due to COVID-19, the symposium was conducted virtually in 2021.

The College of Engineering at Purdue University was recently ranked 4th in the US News engineering graduate program rankings. Further, many faculty members in the Chemical Engineering department maintain active collaborations with industry. As a result, the symposium is attended by industry representatives from many different companies seeking to hire graduate students for industry positions, including the following in the recent past:

  • SABIC
  • Clariant Corp.
  • Corteva Agriscience
  • AbbVie
  • Evonik
  • Air Products
  • Eli Lilly
  • ExxonMobil
  • Dow Chemical Company
  • Proctor and Gamble
  • Phillips 66
  • Chevron
  • 3M
  • Amyris

The next Graduate Research Symposium will be conducted August 17th-18th, 2022. Registrations for industrial representatives are now open, please contact Montgomery Smith (GSO President) at smit2894@purdue.edu and/or Jiselle Thornby (Industrial Liaison Head) at jthornby@purdue.edu for more information.
