Montgomery Smith is originally from Glendale, Arizona, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University in 2020. She is currently a member of the Dr. Zoltan Nagy group and works on the crystallization of energetic materials applied to defense. In her spare time, Montgomery enjoys drawing, painting, kayaking, and baking.

Oversees and participates in planning of Symposium and events throughout the year; works with VP/Treasurer to ensure necessary funding for events is available; introduces speakers/addresses guests at symposium, colloquium, and GSO seminar.

Jiselle Thornby is from Devils Lake, North Dakota, and she completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of North Dakota. She is co-advised by Dr. Stephen Beaudoin (ChE) and Dr. Jeffrey Rhoads (ME) and she works on the additive manufacturing of energetic materials. In her free time, Jiselle enjoys hiking, traveling, card games, and playing trumpet and clarinet. 

Assists President in overseeing event planning; manages finances for Symposium and events throughout the year; supports committees in events planning and operations when necessary.

Tyler is from Aurora, IL. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 2021. He is co-advised by Dr. Stephen Beaudoin (CHE) and Dr. Chelsea Davis (MSE). Tyler’s current research centers on visualizing stresses via cutting of an elastomer utilizing mechanophores. In his free time, Tyler is an avid homebrewer, and enjoys 3D printing and DIY projects.

Responsible for hybrid social/professional development events like Truth and Beauty seminars and Future Faculty Lunches.

Kurt graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2015. After undergrad, he worked for Schlumberger in Midland, TX prior to getting an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University (2018), where he focused on renewable energy and environmental science. During his M.S., Kurt studied the catalysis of carbon capture at the University of Wyoming. After completing his M.S. in 2018, Kurt began his Ph.D. at Purdue University. He is now a 4th year PhD student in Jeff Miller's lab, where he studies the effects of bifunctional catalysts and hydrogen for olefin oligomerization. This is Kurt's third year serving on GSO; he served as social chair from 2019-2021 and will serve as outreach chair from 2022-2023. Outside of research,  plays volleyball for Purdue's club team, and enjoys playing all sports and board games.

Responsible for educational outreach events such as the After School Science Education Program at Murdock Elementary.

Dharini is from Coimbatore, India. She did her Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. At Purdue, she is Co-advised by Dr. Boudouris and Dr. Dou and works on perovskites and do organic synthesis. Some of her hobbies include painting, studying the local flora/fauna and cooking.

Responsible for sustainability efforts within the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, including recycling initiatives and clothing drives.

My name is Angelique Klimek and I am the social chair in GSO. I am a second-year graduate student co-advised by Dr. Beaudoin and Dr. Piercey working on synthesis of energetic materials. My hobbies include food, games and pipe organs.

Responsible for social (i.e. non-sports related) events throughout the year (e.g. quiz bowl, ice skating, mini golf, bowling, happy hour).

Annie Sun is from Akron, Ohio and graduated from Dartmouth College in 2016. She worked as a polymer scientist at Akron Polymer Systems for several years before coming to Purdue. She is a member of the Dr. Vilas Pol group and focuses on electrolyte design in solid-state lithium-ion batteries. In her spare time, Annie enjoys reading, gardening, narrating for audiobooks, and eating well.

Serves as Voting Representative on graduate committee; speaks with students throughout the year to allow graduate students to provide input (both anonymous and otherwise) regarding what they would like to see from GSO or how GSO could better represent their interests as ChE grad students

Ajay is from Pune, India. He did his undergrad in ChemE from the University of Pune in 2018. He then went on to get a master's in Fluid Mechanics from Brown University in 2020. He joined Purdue in the Fall of 2021 and works with Prof. Basaran on free surface flows. In his busy time, he loves to waste time, and in his free time, he loves to watch and play football.

Jackson is from Suwanee, Georgia. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry with a minor in Japanese from the United States Air Force Academy in 2021. He works for Dr. Bao's group testing chimeric antigen receptors as a treatment for prostate cancer. In his free time Jackson visits Greyhouse, hangs out with his pets, or volunteers at Almost Home Humane Society.

Responsible for safety awareness, accountability, and transparency programming in the School of Chemical Engineering; also serves as a member of the Departmental Safety Committee

Anne Serban received her B.S in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2020. She is part of the Beaudoin group and currently working on understanding the adhesion between energetic particles and their binders. In her free time, Anne enjoys being outside and trying new foods.

Represents ChE GSO in PGSG, which hosts university-wide social events for graduate students (e.g. the grad student semi-formal at Lafayette Brewing Co.), provides travel grants and other forms of financial assistance for grad students, and advocates graduate students' interests in Purdue policies.

Melissa is from Jerome, Idaho and completed their undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Idaho in 2020. Melissa is advised by Dr. Morgan and studies metabolically engineered strains of cyanobacteria to overproduce value-added products including biofuels. During her spare time, Melissa enjoys playing volleyball, knitting sweaters for their cats, trying new foods, and gardening.

Responsible for sports events throughout the year, including intramural sports teams organization, informal kickball and frisbee games, etc.

In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing sports, and trying new foods.
