Over the past five decades, the Council has initiated a wide range of activities designed to raise public awareness of hazards and provide safety training. The Council also encourages and enhances community involvement in efforts to reduce injuries and occupational illness on farms and in rural communities. Activities have included:

• Agricultural Safety and Health Forums
• Recognition of individuals contributing to safer rural communities
• Sponsorship of FFA and 4-H youth programs that promote farm and rural safety
• Coordination of National Agricultural Safety and Health Week
• Hosting educational exhibits and events such as the State Fair and Farm Progress Show
• Sponsoring educational workshops
• Publication of resources for children such as the farm safety activity books Careful Country and Weeds in Our Garden
