Indiana's Water Shortage Plan

Worsening drought conditions throughout Indiana are a wake-up call that the state's usually-plentiful water resources cannot be taken for granted. Fortunately, Indiana has prepared for water shortage by creating a Water Shortage Plan, originally developed in 1994 and updated in 2009 by the Water Storage Task Force that worked for three years to update the plan, establish procedures to monitor, assess, and inform public regarding water shortages, and recommend policy on desired baseline flow for in-stream uses. In this webinar, Mark Basch of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, will explain how Indiana's Water Shortage Plan works, and how it is being used to guide state planning and guidance in the 2012 drought.
