I am very grateful and excited to be selected as an awardee for the ACI Foundation's 2023-2024 S.P. Shah Fellowship. I want to thank the ACI Foundation and Surendra P. Shah., Ph.D., Hon. MACI, for sponsoring this award and for supporting Ph.D. students researching concrete. Yesterday morning ACI Foundation Fellowship Awardees from 2023-2024 had a chance to meet and mingle with the ACI Foundations Scholarship Council and ACI Foundation Trustees at the ACI Concrete Convention in Boston, MA The ACI Foundation currently offers 46 scholarships and fellowship opportunities to students studying within the industry. #buildingthefuture

English: The ROP Journal has just published an article about my master's thesis, supervised by Arturo Antón Casado, which won the National Award for Master's Projects in Civil Engineering last year. In the article, some of the technical aspects of the design and construction of this bridge are summarized, such as its location in the Natural Park of the Arribes del Duero (Spain - Portugal), the characteristics and calculation of the composite deck, or the geometry and construction process of the 240-meter-span steel arch, among others. I am happy to share our recently published journal article in Construction and Building Materials. As new technologies arise, it is important to assess the effectiveness of those in order to improve the sustainability of cementitious materials. In this publication, we have done an environmental and economic assessment of CO2 curing, which is a novel type of curing that allows to permanently sequestrate CO2 in the concrete while improving other properties, such as strength and durability parameters. I am proud to announce that I have won first place in Purdue University's Undergraduate Research Conference Research Talks session for the Purdue University College of Engineering division, presenting my research on sustainable building materials. Despite the nerves and slight lack of confidence, I am glad to have support from all the members at the Velay Research Group, especially from my advising Professor Mirian Velay-Lizancos, my mentors Marina García López-Arias, Vito Francioso, and Husam H. Elgaali, and first-time researcher buddy Yaw Yeboah, to help pull me through no matter what. Thank you once again to the Purdue Office of Undergraduate Research for supplying me with the OURS Scholarship to fund this journey!
