Purdue has long been recognized as one of the world’s leading research institutions—and our commitment to supporting our faculty’s research efforts is a big reason why. Within the College of Engineering, our signature areas help foster interdisciplinary collaborations. Teaming with industry and others across campus, our faculty, staff and students are seeking solutions ranging from atomic-scale breakthroughs in nanotechnology to system-changing solutions that ensure global sustainability.

  • Office of Research: As you collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives, the College of Engineering’s Office of Research is here to help—identifying funding opportunities, supporting team building and helping with the development of large-scale proposals and interdisciplinary centers. 
  • Discovery Park: Launched in 2001, Discovery Park is a $600 million research and learning complex of eight core centers, where more than 4,000 faculty members and students use an interdisciplinary approach to tackle today’s grand challenges. 
  • Office of Technology Commercialization: One of the most comprehensive technology transfer programs among leading U.S. research universities, this office can help you with the process of transforming your intellectual property into an actual product or service. 
  • Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships: You can turn to this university office for assistance in a number of areas—developing research and education proposals, identifying funding opportunities, connecting with the private sector, and understanding and complying with state and federal statutes and regulations. 
  • Purdue Research Park: With four sites across Indiana and more than 200 companies, the Purdue Research Park has served as an incubator for business ideas since 1961.
  • Research Labs & Facilities: Purdue boasts more than 400 research laboratories, and you’ll find more than 50 engineering-specific labs, centers and institutes across campus, specializing in everything from agricultural safety and homeland security to nanoelectronics, oncological science and more.
