Technology created by Karthik Ramani, the Donald W. Feddersen Professor of Mechanical Engineering, created strong buzz at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) as one of only three presenters to be named a “Best Maker-Friendly Technology.” The device, called Ziro, which debuted at CES, is a hand-controlled robotics kit that allows its user to wear a glove that connects through Bluetooth to a four-wheeled robot. Moving the gloved hand, fingers and rotating its palm manipulates the robot’s various movements.
